We appreciate your understanding of these guidelines, which are here to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Now, let’s take a look at some of our most frequently asked questions for our customers who coming to our sales to buy items.
An estate sale generally is a sale of one or more family members private home furnishings and goods. We honor and are committed to respecting and handling the possessions of the estate with care and respect, recognizing that often the items for sale represent the life, livelihood, hard work, hobbies and history of the owners of the estate.
A moving sale is similar to an estate sale in that it generally involves the furnishings and homegoods of an individual or family who is experiencing any of many life changes where they have decided to sell the items in the sale.
A liquidation sale is most often a sale of a business’ furnishings and objects or inventory from offices, retail stores or other types of inventory and/or fixtures for businesses. A liquidation may occur for many reasons.
We use fair market value resale prices for the majority of items in a sale. For items that are collectible, rare or otherwise require additional research and are highly sought after, we price those items according to the results of our research combined with fair market value.
We take a lot of time and effort to price items in a sale appropriately for fair value. Good faith negotiations may be done when an offer is reasonable. Low ball offers are not a good faith negotiation.
A good faith negotiation can be done with an offer that is REASONABLE. Low ball offers are not a good faith negotiation. If you really want an item, please present a reasonable offer if you expect an agreement to be made. Low ballers may get angry because they want a item for no consideration and that is not acting in good faith,
We are an estate sale, not a flea market or retail store. We pride ourselves on being fair and offering items at a fair value making a win-win for both the end user (you the buyer) and our clients (the Estate). We have a fiduciary responsibility to our clients (the Estate) but always want to have as good a relationship as possible with our customers (Buyers).
This depends on the contract with the seller. We may offer some items online ahead of the sale. This generally relates to highly sought after furniture, artworks, jewelry and other collectibles. On occasion we will offer items through live online auction, We also invite our premiere buyers club members to attend a pre-sale ahead of the published sale date and time. If you are interested in being invited to early sales, you can become one of our premiere buyers club HERE,

Unless you are one of our premiere members, you will not have access to the location ahead of the start of the public sale dates and times. Premiere Buyers Club Members may be invited to attend earlier than general public in given times via a specific invitation.

No, we do not allow our visitors and guests to take measurements of items during the sale. Because we often have many people in the location as well as the risks involved with moving, touching or handling furniture or wall hangings we have to err on the side of the safety of the furniture and items in the sale which could suffer damage or breakage. We do not have personnel available to assist with measuring as they are there to over see the sale. We will try to keep a list of meaasurements on items such as furniture, art, etc. that need measurement but cannot guarantee that we will have measurements available for every item you request information on. Our team is occupied running the sale and may not have time to find your measurement requests. We suggest you bring a small piece of paper with the measurements of your available space or vehicle to see if the item(s) you are interested in will fit.
You may arrive as early as 8 AM for any sale to stand in line. Doors will not open until the published time and we do not have seating available outside. Entry into the house will be based on first come, first served so the early arrivals will have access to the best selection of the items in the sale. Please do not arrive earlier than 8 AM as this is just rude and inconsiderate of the neighbors where the sale is being held.
When you reach the location, please be certain that you follow our parking instructions as published with the sale. Do not park in driveways or block neighbors' driveways, roads or entry ways. Do not park in the grass of any lot nearby nor in any location where there is posted no parking signage. Follow all street signage requirements. Some sales may require you to park some distance to find public parking and you may have to walk to the venue.
When you get to the venue, if the doors have not yet opened or there is a line of people, please line up behind the last person in line. We do not take RSVPs, assign tickets or lists for entry in non-auction estate or moving sales. Some liquidation sales and auction sales will require pre-registration to enter. Please adhere to the published instructions for that sale as published on our website.
Please do not walk in the gardens or attempt to peek into windows. It’s rude and frankly creepy. While in line, as well as in the sale venue, please be respectful of others attending. If we hear of or witness bullying, jumping the line or other bad behavior, we will ban you from our sales. Be aware that we utilize anti-theft devices and cameras at our sales and you will be recorded from the time you enter until the time you depart our sale.
When you enter or the doors are opened, please enter in a calm and orderly fashion. While there may be things that you really want to purchase, please do not run, shove, push or be combative to get to those items. We expect our visitors to behave in a civilized manner and those who cannot do so will be banned from entry and/or legally removed. Furniture and wall art—please locate one of our staff members who are wearing a Nifty Groovy T-shirt. They will bring the tag to the cashier and you will pay for the item. As soon as it is paid for, the cashier will get your name and contact information. The staff member will place a sold tag on the said item. If the item is wall art, the staff member will take it off of the wall for you and you will need to take the item out of the venue to your vehicle. For furniture, you will need to have your own truck or trailer or vehicle to take the piece of furniture out, as well as your own help carrying it out and securing it. WE DO NOT MOVE FURNITURE out of the venue, WE DO NOT CARRY IT OUT TO YOUR VEHICLE, WE DO NOT DELIVER FURNITURE. You MUST make arrangements to remove the furniture before the close of that day’s sale. If you fail to take the piece by the published time of the close of the sale, you will forfeit the sale and will not be provided any refund so if you see furniture posted that you think you may want to purchase, make your plans to do so BEFORE coming to the sale. We will not ‘save’ furniture for when you arrive at the sale. When you are ready to move the furniture, please let our staff members know and they will assist in clearing our items and people out of the way while you are moving the item. We are not responsible for any damages that occur while you are removing items.
For all other items, please bring the items to the check out area and pay for the items. If you are still shopping, place the item on the SOLD table and our cashier will take your contact information and post a note that the item is SOLD. Once items are on the SOLD table, you will be expected to purchase them. Placing items on the SOLD table and then leaving without paying for them will be grounds for us to ban you from future sales. If you leave the venue without paying the item will be placed back into the inventory available for others to purchase. We do not put “holds” on any item. Items are expected to be paid for in full before you walk out of the venue. Our staff may notice that you have items piled in your hands/arms and ask you to take them to the SOLD table if it appears that your loaded arms could cause a hazard to you or our other guests or to the items you are holding.
Jewelry and Items that are Sealed or Marked as a LOT BOX are to remain unopened/untampered with. Removing or adding items to LOT BOXES will result in us asking you to depart our sale and you will be banned from future attendance. Remember, we have cameras everywhere and not all of our staff is identified as such.
You are welcome to shop, check out and make payment, take your items to your vehicle and then reenter to shop some more. You can do this as many times as you want during our sale (if you are asked to wait in line after taking items to your car you may not cut in line and re-enter—only because we have reached our max occupancy and must wait for some people to depart before allowing others to enter.)
Small and easy to carry items will be placed on the table next to the cashier. They will be wrapped and placed in plastic bags. If you want to put your items into a box, you can bring your box in after paying.
Nifty Groovy and our personnel or staff are NOT responsible for any damages that you incur upon removal of your purchases. You purchase all items as is/where is without warranty or guarantee. No refunds, no exchanges and no returns. All sales final.
No. We do not have the personnel available or the means to load your vehicle or move furniture or to deliver items. Please be prepared if you see large items that you will need assistance moving or getting into your vehicle. We do not provide string, straps, dolly’s or other tools for moving or delivery.
Remember that all of your purchases must be removed on the day that you purchase them. Items that are not removed by the close of that day’s sale will be added back to the inventory without refund or if it is the last day and you fail to arrive to pick up your furniture by the time we close the sale, items will be disposed of as we see fit with not refunds.
We do not sell real estate. While a home or business location may be listed for sale in conjunction with a sale, we do not allow realtors to show the house during a sale or while we are in the process of organizing the sale
Please note that once the sale is over is is OVER. Please do not call/text/email or attempt to ring the bell to ask if you can come back in for the smashing little bag you skipped over or the Mid-Century barware you just decided you have to have. If the sale is open the next day, you are welcome to come back and try again to get items you decided after we closed for the day that you want. Once the entire sale is over, we move on to the next sale. Our recommendation is to purchase the items that you like when you see them as there is no guarantee they will be available later. We hope you will request to be on our mailing list to get notifications of new and upcoming sales and/or join our Premier Buyer’s Club to get access to future early access offerings in your estate, moving and liquidation sales journeys.
